St. Pius V is a Catholic parish in the Pilsen neighborhood on Chicago’s near southwest side. Our parish is known for strong community involvement, outreach to young people, family counseling and domestic violence services, an award-winning school, and a commitment to social programs for people in need. For the past 50 years, St. Pius V has served a predominantly Mexican immigrant population.
We are a multicultural faith community united by our desire to bring the Gospel of Jesus to life in our neighborhood, city, and world. Our mission is to welcome, teach, and offer life-transforming support to those who come to us for assistance.
St. Pius V School is a center of faith and learning haven of peace and non-violence. Our religious education programs serve hundreds of students, including those with developmental disabilities. The counseling services offered by HOPE at St. Pius V bring healing and hope to 600 women, children, and men each year. Our food services provide 47,000 meals annually; no one goes away hungry.
While meeting the needs of God’s people in the neighborhood, St. Pius V also contributes to the neighborhood’s economic stability, for which we were honored with the first-ever national “Halo Award” by a national church preservation organization. Every dollar invested in the services provided by St. Pius V generates $5.00 for the community. Our $3 million dollar annual budget produces $16 million worth of education for our children, healthier, happier couples and families, stronger community leaders, and safer streets. Welcome to St. Pius V. Let us know how we can help you.
