Apoyando a Nuestra Parroquia y Comunidad
Supporting Our Parish and Community
Since our founding in the 1870s, St. Pius V parish has been committed to serving the primarily immigrant community of Pilsen and surrounding neighborhoods. Today, we continue that mission and to upholding the basic principle of Catholic social teaching that all people, created in the image of God, are deserving of dignity and respect.
As a community of faith, we are aligned with the teachings of our local church, the Archdiocese of Chicago and Cardinal Cupich, who publicly advocates for the rights and well-being of immigrant people. We also support the efforts of the City of Chicago, a Sanctuary City, and the State of Illinois to protect and empower all residents.
If you are concerned about your own safety or the safety of your family, or to learn more about immigrant rights and resources, our sister organization, The Resurrection Project, is an excellent resource. Their website has clear instructions on how to prepare and respond: https://www.trpimmigrantjustice.org/resourcehub
