Si usted o sus hijos buscan preparación para los Sacramentos de Bautismo, Reconciliación, Primera Comunión o Confirmación, le invitamos a inscribirse en nuestro programa de Educación Religiosa en la parroquia de San Pío V. Para adultos ofrecemos el programa RICA y para gente con discapacidad tenemos SPRED.

Para servirle mejor, la inscripción para todos los programas se hace con cita previa en la oficina parroquial de lunes a viernes durante los meses de junio y julio. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION FOR THE 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR

If you or your children are seeking preparation for the Sacraments such as Baptism, Reconciliation, First Communion, or Confirmation, we invite you to register for our Religious Education program at St. Pius V parish. For adults we offer the RCIA program and for people with disability we have SPRED.

To better serve you, registration for all programs will be done by appointment only at the parish office during the months of June and July, from Monday to Friday. Please call (312) 226-6161 to schedule your appointment and complete the registration process. We look forward to accompanying you and your family on this shared journey of faith!

Kermes y Rifa 2023: Guarden la fecha / Save the Date

La Kermes y Rifa de San Pío V, se llevarán a cabo el sábado 22 (11 am – 10 pm) y domingo 23 (10 am – 10 pm) de julio de 2023. Se necesitan voluntarios!

Los boletos para la rifa se pueden comprar por $5 cada uno en la oficina parroquial o de un miembro de la iglesia. Uno debe tener 18 años de edad o más para participar en la rifa. Los premios de la rifa para este año:

• Primer Premio: $7,500
• Segundo Premio: $5,000
• Tercer Premio: $3,000

La Kermes, the street festival of St. Pius V parish, will take place Saturday (11 am – 10 pm) and Sunday (10 am – 10 pm), July 22-23, 2023. Volunteers are needed!

Raffle tickets may be purchased for $5 each in the parish office or from a parishioner. You must be 18 years of age or older to participate in the raffle. This year’s prizes:

• First Prize: $7,500
• Second Prize: $5,000
• Third Prize: $3,000

ALIMENTOS NUTRITIVOS
Maná en el desierto, agua de una roca, pan, vino. Dios proporciona alimentos para nutrir nuestros cuerpos y nuestras almas, para llevarnos a la unión con lo divino. Esto es lo que celebramos en esta solemnidad del Santísimo Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo.

Los israelitas que viajaron por el desierto durante cuarenta años conocían el hambre física, pero también tenían hambre de más: necesitaban saber que Dios estaba con ellos mientras atravesaban el peligroso desierto. Nosotros también experimentamos hambre.

Necesitamos tener la seguridad de que el Señor está con nosotros mientras navegamos por las circunstancias de nuestras vidas, algunas de las cuales se sienten peligrosas, si no para nuestros cuerpos, ciertamente para nuestro espíritu. Nuestra participación en la Eucaristía nos proporciona esta seguridad y más: alimentados con el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo, somos atraídos a la comunión con Cristo y con los demás.

NOURISHING FOOD
Manna in the desert, water from a rock, bread, wine. God provides food to nourish our bodies and our souls, to bring us into union with the Divine. This is what we celebrate on this Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.

The Israelites who journeyed through the desert for forty years knew physical hunger, but they were also hungry for more—they needed to know that God was with them as they made their way through the dangerous desert.

We too experience hunger. We need to be assured that the Lord is with us as we navigate the circumstances of our lives, some of which feel dangerous, if not to our bodies, certainly to our spirit. Our participation in the Eucharist provides this assurance and more: fed with Christ’s Body and Blood, we are drawn into communion with Christ and one another.
