BAPTISMAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ST. PIUS V PARISH

Baptism is undoubtedly an extremely important sacrament, one which we encourage you to consider blessing your child with preferably while they are still infants. In extreme situations we can make some exceptions for a child up to and including age four. At this point in a child’s development, they are ready to begin religious education either through religious education programs from the parish or in a parochial school .

The mother and father of the child must be married. If they do not meet this requirement they must talk to the priest in charge of the parish.

If the Godparents are a couple they must be married through the church. If they are not married through the church, they cannot be Godparents.  However, if the Godparents are single and not living with anyone, they can be Godparents.

Both the parents and the Godparents must complete the pre-baptismal classes. They can take the classes at any Catholic parish; they must present their certificate of completion to the parish office.

Parents are responsible for the registration of the child. Please be sure to bring the following:

  • Certificate of pre-baptismal classes of the parents and the Godparents.
  • The child’s birth certificate.
  • The parents and Godparents marriage certificates. (If the Godparents are single, they  do not need a marriage certificate.)
  • A donation of $50.00

All baptisms are celebrated on Saturdays at 1:00 pm. If you are a registered parishioner, you must speak to the priest to baptize during Sunday Mass.
