Parish banquet will be postponed

Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Pius V Parish,

We have decided to postpone our parish banquet, Un Nuevo Amenecer, which was scheduled for October 23, 2021.

While we were all looking forward to gathering together in person once again, the realities of the surge in covid cases with the delta variant have made it a public health risk.

I have made this decision based on guidance from the Archdiocese of Chicago, local public health departments, and the committee of parish leaders that was planning the banquet. At the same time, many parishioners have shared with me that they are uncomfortable participating in such a large event at this time.

We will continue with the raffle drawing that is already an important part of the banquet. Many of you have been very dedicated in promoting the raffle, which is an important fundraiser for our parish mission. I ask that you continue to promote the raffle and thank you for supporting the work of our parish!

I encourage everyone who is age 12 and older to get vaccinated. This is the best way to bring an end to this pandemic and allow us to safely gather together as families and as church.

Thank you for your understanding. May God bless you and the entire faith community of St. Pius V parish.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Tom Lynch, OP
Pastor

Update on public health and safety measures for St. Pius V parish

In accordance with the Archdiocese of Chicago and the City of Chicago, we are lifting many of the public health restrictions at St. Pius V parish.

We will no longer require registration for participation in Sunday Mass or other sacraments and celebrations in the church.

The pastor has asked that everyone continue to wear a mask at Sunday Mass.

Hand washing and hand sanitizing are strongly encouraged for everyone but will no longer be administered by the volunteers.

Volunteers will no longer be directing people to their seats but we encourage everyone to maintain physical distancing as much as possible (we still have many unvaccinated people, especially young children, in our community).

We strongly encourage everyone who is 12 years of age and older to get vaccinated!

Thank you for respecting the health needs of EVERYONE in the community, including those who may be immunocompromised or have some other medical condition that requires extra precautions.
